24 Weeks and All About the Name

We've had lots of people asking, "How'd you come up with Bryleigh?" So I thought I'd share that here:

We've had names picked out for future Hammons kiddos for a while...like possibly before we were married.  All of them are family names or have some sort of meaning behind them, and Bryleigh is no different.

If you know Brad's dad, you know he can show his silly side from time to time (or all of the time...).  One of the things that he does is call Brad by his full name (which is Bradley), but he leaves out some letters, so it ends up coming out "Bra-ley" (which sometimes ended up sounding an awful lot like Bryleigh).  After hearing him say that a few times, I made the comment that we could name a little girl after her daddy and it's been Bryleigh ever since!

The spelling for "Leigh" in the last part of her name is after her aunt Erin Leigh, Brad's little sister.  She is someone that I know that will be a huge influence in my baby girl's life!

Bryleigh is of Irish origin meaning noble, strong.
The name has been around since 1997 and ranked 861 in popularity during 2012...meaning there probably won't be 3 other Bryleigh's in her Kindergarten class!

How far along? 24 weeks

Due Date? January 14, 2014

How big is baby? Miss B is the size of an ear of corn! She is approximately 12.5 inches long and weighs about 1.25 lbs

Maternity clothes? Wore my first "maternity" outfit today - and people definitely noticed the bump!!   I'm still able to wear all of my clothes, but I've got some cute stuff, and it's way more comfy - so I busted out the leggings and sweater today for church (and still have them on right now)!

The new clothes, the bump, and Baby #1
Stretch marks? Nope

Sleeping? No. (Which is why I look slightly exhausted in my weekly picture...)

Miss anything? Sleep! - see above

Movement? Absolutely!

Food cravings? I could eat cinnamon creme cake every day for every meal. But it's expensive. And probably not healthy...so I didn't go buy another one when I finished my first one.

Food aversions? Sweet. Tea. :( Devastating.  It's not that I DON'T want it...it's just that the meals I've had it end up being the ones that make me the most nauseas.  I do try and drink water most of the time anyways, so this isn't terrible...but sometimes you just need a little sweet tea in your life! (Uncle Si knows what he's talking about!!)

Gender predictions? Girl, girl, girl!

Symptoms? This week could be labeled "Mornings Mean Nausea and Nosebleeds" - and that horrible breakout going on with the left side of my mouth/cheek. (Is it bad that I prayed for Jesus to take that away?! It's getting painful and it's just irritating.)

Belly button – in or out? In

Wedding rings – on or off? On

Mood? I'd say mostly great, with a little moodiness in there from time to time!

Labor signs? Nope.

Best moment this week? This was definitely a challenging week with a couple of not so great days and a lot of missing Brad!! He had a super busy week at work.  Monday and Tuesday he was gone to Dallas from about 7:00 am - 8:30 pm and then he flew out to North Carolina on Wednesday for some meetings.

I would have to say the best moment of the week was picking him up at the airport at 5:00 on Friday! I was DEFINITELY ready to see him!!

I also got to spend some time with my bestie Kim and her new baby boy Samuel.  He is absolutely precious and so sweet...and TINY!! It definitely made me excited for Miss Bryleigh to be here!

Looking forward to? We are SO excited for our first baby shower - a week from today! So many people have prayed for this baby, and we are looking forward to celebrating with them.

And we are CERTAINLY excited for MORE. RANGERS. BASEBALL!
