pm at home
We found out that the buses were doing our routes as “side
jobs” and ended up getting in trouble so we had to leave by a specific time,
which ended up rushing us through breakfast a little bit!
It was our first ride out to Etulia – pronounced
E-too-leah, and it was DEFINTELY the worst trip we had made. Etulia seemed a little nicer as far as the
homes went, and a little healthier as far as the people went, but there were
definitely smaller crowds every where we were involved.
When we first arrived in Etulia, a group of us walked
through the village inviting people out to the clinic and VBS/Sports
Camps. It was obvious as we talked with
everyone that the local church had done a great job of getting the word out
about the clinic.
There weren’t any kids around or any set times for the VBS
and Sports Camp, so Paulina, Vica, Molly and I went to the soccer field with
some equipment and started playing around. We noticed during our time in
Moldova that if we started playing, kids would come!
After playing around for about 5 or 10 minutes, a group of
kids walking through the village decided to come over and see what was going
on. There were about 10 kids that played
soccer and some other games we set up to play with them.
Following lunch, the children’s team along with Molly and
Brittany went over to a local preschool.
We had some cookies for them and we ended up singing a few American
songs. They were precious children and
we really enjoyed getting to spend some time with them.
Our group decided to walk back through the village to
where the clinic was being held so that we could talk to the people we met
along the way and invite them to the service we were having. We also grabbed an ice cream while we were in
one of the magazines – this quickly turned into a daily ritual after going to a
store our first day in Cismichioi.
We had a little bit more down time when we got back to the
clinic before dinner, but once dinner was over we headed down to where the
evangelistic service was going to be.
When we first arrived, there was no one but our group there, but within
10 or 15 minutes, there were multiples groups of youth from the town – and some
of the guys from Cismichioi came back over as well.
We had some FABULOUS ice cream when we got back to our
host home with a raspberry (there were only 3, one for each of us, because they
weren’t really ready to be picked yet).
It was definitely the creamiest ice cream I’ve ever had!
