We started our day by heading out to Bank of America so we could pick up a cashier's check for our down payment. Brad had done his research the night before and found one that opened at 9:00 am and was close to the DHI title office.
We had a 10:00 appointment scheduled for closing, and we arrived nice an early. The receptionist got us checked in and they got us back and the signing started around 9:45. By 10:07, we were officially done, we had copies of all the paperwork, and we had been fully funded - which meant we got to pick up our keys right away!
Before we could head to Arlington to see the house, we had a few things on our to-do list, including purchasing our new bedroom furniture, lunch, and picking up our wonderful friend (James Myers) from the airport.
*Funny story...As we walked in to Rooms to Go, hand in hand, the nice gentleman shown below said, "Let me guess, you just closed on your first home and you're here to pick out some new furniture?" We all laughed, asked how he guessed, and then laughed some more. He was a little surprised when we told him we actually HAD just come from our closing, but he mentioned that when a young couple comes in the store, early in the day, middle of the week...it usually means they just closed on their first home.*
Four beautiful pieces of metal later, we were walking through the front door of our very own home.
The last few "changes" that had taken place since we'd last been to the house were some of the most exciting ones...our stainless steel appliances and the front loaders!
