At Home on Velvet Antler Trail

At this time two days ago, we weren’t building a house.  Today, we put a deposit down to build the Canyon Falls floor plan at 7609 Velvet Antler Trail. WOAH.

It’s definitely been a whirlwind over the past two days, but we feel so confident that we are right where we should be and that God saved our lot JUST for us.

After losing the initial (corner with a huge backyard) lot we initially wanted yesterday, we tried to “force” a few to fit earlier today.  We looked in various parts of the neighborhood and saw ones we liked…that also had things we didn’t like.  There was another corner lot…with an awesome view of the power lines right out your front door.  Or there was the oversized lot, with an awesome view of Mansfield High’s stadium out your back door.

None of those felt right and we asked Anthony to take us back up to the front of the Deer Valley Edition where some new lots (normal in size, shape, and location – no corners, oversized backyards, or anything) and selected the one right in the middle of the row that was available. I definitely had a peace about it as Brad and I agreed it was right where our first house should be…right where God wants us for years to come.

And for those years to come…I picked the oh-so-permanent choices of BRICK and STONE today.  Selecting a floor plan that fit our needs AND price range was fairly easy.  Selecting a lot wasn’t too painful either.  But locking down brick and stone (when 48 hours prior there wasn’t even a THOUGHT about either) was a little overwhelming. (EDIT *Which is why we went back on MONDAY with my mom and dad and drove through the entire neighborhood and RE-selected the brick and stone.)

We drove through the neighborhood, picked the combination we liked and then had Anthony look up the names of the brick and stone.  Here's to hoping it looks great! ;)
We submitted our initial offer to Mr. Horton with the options we'd like included, as well as some things that Anthony suggested, and now we are just waiting for it to be accepted!
