We had so much fun at the Design Gallery making ALL of the decisions for our new home. We have two appointments for two hours a piece, any decisions we can't make in that time frame would cause us to PAY for an additional appointment - Needless to say, B gave me several pep talks about coming in with my "Decision Hat" on and ready to go.
Today was our first appointment, and we met our Design Consultant, Jani Stewart. We were so pleased with her knowledge and helpfulness. We began making decisions right away, and she definitely helped us narrow things down when we were having trouble.
We started with cabinets and countertops. The cabinets (color, wood, and style) were some of the easiest decisions I made!

This is the color of the stain we chose and the type of wood we selected,
so our cabinets will look very similar to this. |

This is the style of cabinets we chose.
I love the simplistic look it has. |
The countertops, on the other hand, weren't as easy. We didn't want to pick one that was too expensive, and there were just so many options (in such small samples). We were able to narrow it down to a few options that had what we were looking for, and then made the final decision to have "Giallo Fantastico." The picture below is just one variation of what the coloring can look like. Some have less gold, and some have more...I'm so excited to see what OUR pieces look like!

B was a BIG encourager of granite counter tops.
Can't say I'm mad about it! :) |
After the countertops and cabinets, it was on to flooring! We selected a neutral tile that comes in 18X18, which will also be our backsplash as well (in 13X13 turned on diagonal). We went neutral with the carpet as well, also an easy decision!

All of our choices laid out together.
Tile to the left, countertops and cabinets on top, and carpet on the right. |
A few of the other selections we were able to pick out included the interior and exterior doors. I was SO excited that the style of door I had been stalking on Pinterest was NOT considered an upgrade! The inside doors will be the same white color as our baseboards, and the front door will be stained similar to the kitchen cabinets.
We also worked through our kitchen sink (a beautiful 60/40 undermount that will be perfect for little babies' bath times!), fireplace, paint colors (Kilim Beige - which my dad painted our house with when I was younger!), faucets, and lighting.
One of my FAVORITE things we picked out (...I think I may have said that a few times already) was our DOUBLE oven with 5 burners. :) Thanksgiving 2013 at our place, y'all!
And the decisions have been made! :)
