I had big plans when this pregnancy started. I was excited we found out so early because that just meant more time to document and the more details I'd have written down to keep forever...and then Week 5, day 5 happened. Brad and I had gone down to Houston with my parents for the weekend, and on Saturday night I was lucky enough to see my dinner...twice. And this would only be the beginning.
If you read our announcement post, here, you'll know that I was nauseas (all day, every day) for a week before even finding out we were for sure pregnant, and this lasted through week 5. Week 5, day 5 introduced us to a whole new world, and things haven't been the same since!
I will say that I've been pretty quite (as far as social media goes) on just how sick I've been. It's something that our family and close friends are aware of so that they could be praying with us, and because we've had to miss out on so much over the past 8 to 10 weeks (it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to hide from those we see regularly). My OB is incredible, and I feel very comfortable under his care. He has informed us repeatedly that Baby Hammons is perfectly healthy and getting all the nutrients that he or she needs, which is really all that matters to me. We discuss possible treatment options in the case that things get worse, and I've been able to call on weekends and get immediate assistance from his team in order to avoid trips to the Emergency Room.
First Trimester Update
I decided since not much changed over the past 10 weeks, I'd just lump them all together! I fell in love with Amber and her blog, 3 Ladies and Their Gent, a while back and decided to follow her fun questionnaire she did each week to keep track of how things were progressing. (She struggled with infertility issues as well and is from the metroplex.) I'm hoping to feel well enough to be able to post weekly going forward.
How far along? 13 weeks
Due Date? January 14, 2014 (God has this crazy sense of humor...I always prayed to NOT have a baby in 2013...no wonder He kept saying, "Just wait.")
How big is baby? Baby H has grown from the size of a poppy seed in the first picture to a peach in the second picture
Total weight gain? Um...let's talk weight loss, -15 lbs
Maternity clothes? Currently, I could use some new clothes...some smaller ones, actually.
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleeping? All. The. Time. Sometimes due to the anti-nausea medicine, sometimes due to the lack of energy from not eating/being so sick, and sometimes just because I am growing a tiny human inside of me!
Miss anything? CHEESEBURGERS. I know this is supposed to be for things that are off limits, but currently, most foods are off limits and I just really want to eat a GOOD cheeseburger...preferably Snuffers, with an order of their cheese fries and ranch dressing. (You think I'm kidding...I've had FIVE dreams about eating cheeseburgers!)
Movement? None yet, but I'd have to say this is what I'm most looking forward to next!
Food cravings? No specific cravings yet, but I do want carbs most of the time...Bread, ANY kind of bread will do. Oh, and Pop Ice popsicles...I guess that's been my pregnancy craving so far.
Food aversions? Does food count? I haven't been to grossed out by anything specific, but I'd prefer not to smell chicken that is cooking. I'm not a huge meat fan these days, and I really don't want much to do with cheese either...which, normally, I LOVE cheese. And sweets...I don't want ice cream (SHOCKING), cakes, cookies, ANY THING.
Gender predictions? I have NO clue. Some days I'd say boy, some days I'd say girl.
Symptoms? Besides the insane nausea and daily vomiting, a nice little breakout on my face and exhaustion. My sense of smell could put a K9's to shame right now, too.
Belly button – in or out? In
Wedding rings – on or off? On
Mood? You tell me, I cried uncontrollably last week when I learned Brad forgot to bring a piece of mail in from three days ago. (Honestly, there were "underlying" issues with that day, and that has been the ONLY sob-fest I've had...so I'd say I'm doing pretty good.)
Labor signs? Nope.

Thursday, May 30 - 7 wks, 2 days -- We had our first appointment with Dr. Harris and got to see Baby's heart beating!! I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum and will be off work for the next 6 weeks.
Sunday, June 23 to Wednesday, July 3 - 10 wks, 5 days to 12 wks, 1 day -- MIMI CAMP in Sulphur Springs while Brad was on business in California and then while Tate came to stay with my parents.
Monday, June 24 - 10 wks, 6 days -- HEARD BABY HAMMONS' HEARTBEAT!! It was a healthy, strong 160 bpm!
Friday, July 12 - 13 wks, 3 days -- Got to hear Baby Hammons' heartbeat again! This appointment was to check in with Dr. Harris to see if I could go back to work, but I did not get medically released, so I'll be out 6 more weeks.
Looking forward to? Feeling Baby move soon and working on some craft ideas I have for the nursery and a Gender Reveal photo shoot we'll be doing in a month and a half!
