Although this part could definitely fit in the "Best Moment(s) of the Week" section, it deserves a place all its own: This week was my mom's 55th birthday (on Saturday), and do you know how she spent that day?? Helping Brad and me get ready for Christmas and Miss Bryleigh. My Christmas tree is up and decorated, my Christmas presents are wrapped, my house is spotless, and Miss Bryleigh's got clean clothes, blankets, towels and wash cloths, not to mention her room is perfectly organized. (And thank you to my dad and my husband as well - you guys were a BIG help this weekend!!)
Don't worry - it wasn't all work...we did celebrate with a little Cheesecake Factory for lunch, and S'mores Galore for dessert! |
And do you know what she did last year on her 54th birthday (and 34th anniversary...which is 2 days after her birthday)? She helped as Brad and I moved in to our very first house.
She is the hardest working person I know. She is also the most selfless person I know. She has always put the needs and happiness of her family before her own, and there is no way I could ever find the words to tell her how much she means to me and how thankful I am for her. I love getting to be with her on those special days no matter what we are doing, but you can believe I'll be planning something extra special for next year's celebration that does NOT include her working/helping me with anything! (I'm sure she will still manage to squeeze some helping out in there somewhere!) I love you Mom! Happy birthday!! And Happy 35th Anniversary to you and Dad!!
Also a very exciting part to last week was celebrating one year of being homeowners and living in our wonderful home!! We took out a huge chunk from our savings, made a down payment on our house, signed our lives away...and took the leap in to home ownership on December 13, 2012! God has been so faithful and blessed us more than we imagined over the past year!

How far along? 35 weeks
Due Date? January 14, 2014
How big is baby? Bryleigh is about 18 inches long and approximately 5.25 pounds. She is about the size of a honeydew melon...and she is certainly running out of room!!
Maternity clothes? Yep! (And as comfy as they are, I'm going to miss them when the bump is gone!)
Stretch marks? Still the same few that popped up a few weeks ago.
Sleeping? I have to say I'm doing pretty good. I think anyone at 35 weeks pregnant is going to have some uncomfortableness going on...not to mention those middle-of-the-night potty breaks! Some nights are certainly better than others, and some even call for "reinforcements," but overall I'm getting rest, and that's what's important!
Miss anything? SLEEPING comfortably...This little one takes up all her "allowable space" and she sure likes to move around to make sure she's as comfy as possible!
Movement? Shakin' and groovin' 24-7!
Food cravings? No real cravings this week - we made peanut butter squares again and then I got some yummy Tiff's Treats while we were in Dallas, snickerdoodle included of course!
Food aversions? I'd have to say no real aversions either!
Gender predictions? Girl! (with the fear at least once a day that SHE will come out a HE...and have to wear pink for the first month of his life!)
Symptoms? Thanks to a lot going on and the lack of proper footwear, I had some swollen feet/ankles over the weekend. Nothing too major at all.
Belly button – in or out? Because she moves so much, this changes multiple times a day, but it's always in or flat, hasn't been out at all.
Wedding rings – on or off? I've got the rings off at this moment, but I can still wear them.
Mood? Doing good! Feeling good :)
Labor signs? Thankfully the Braxton Hicks were pretty mild this week!
Best moment(s) this week? This week was honestly one of my favorites! We squeezed a whole lot in to one week. We got to see SO many people that we don't see very often anymore (with me not working and Brad working from home) but still mean so much to us!
This was Brad's CRAZY, busy work week that we've been expecting for quite some time now - he worked until 10:00 on Monday night, 9:30 on Tuesday night, and 8:00 on Wednesday night with several long trips in to the office. Apparently people drive crazy just because it's Christmastime, and all of the sudden 45 minute commutes turn in to 2 hours...ice or no ice!
We started off the week with a dinner at Chili's with the newlyweds. It was SO good to see Josh and Kate (the Manns!) after they got home from their honeymoon and just catch up on life with them. They are seriously some of the sweetest people you will ever meet!! (And congratulations to Kate on graduating this weekend!!!!)
On Thursday, we loaded up the car and headed to Dallas for the next two days! Our first stop was a consultation with a Pediatrician in Mansfield to see if she would be a good fit for us, and we absolutely loved her!! (Check that off the to-do list!)
Brad had to be in the office on Thursday and Friday, and his company Christmas party was Thursday night, so we decided to go in together on Thursday, stay in a hotel, and spend some time over there! I was able to get some more Christmas shopping done, along with some other errands I needed to run, and then stopped by the Yardi office to say hi to everyone that I miss so much!! It was so good to see everyone and to have lunch with my bestie, KIM! I even got to have lunch with her again on Friday, along with Julie and Michael. Like I said, it was a week full of so many people I LOVE but haven't gotten to see in a while!
The Christmas party Thursday night was at the Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field, which was a pretty neat venue to host a party. We got to see a lot of familiar faces that love and support Brad and have grown to be good friends of mine as well (Michelle Monroe - this DEFINITELY means you!), and I got to meet a lot of new people as well. It was such a great night, and I'm pretty sure I had the most handsome date there!
We headed back Friday afternoon after Brad got off work, and stopped by the Yardi office in Irving where I got to see even MORE people that mean so much to me - Madison and Nikki made some very long days a lot more bearable. (Yardi is still such a blessing even after not being there for several months!)
My parents were at our house by the time we got done eating dinner on Friday night, and they stayed through Sunday afternoon...no matter how hard we work, or what we are doing, we always have fun! We finished decorating the Christmas tree on Friday night, did a little Christmas shopping Saturday morning, and ended up at the Cheesecake Factory for Mom's birthday lunch Saturday afternoon. The next 24 hours after that were spent getting the house ready for Christmas this weekend and for Miss Bryleigh's arrival!!

I'm so proud of this man and his hard work at CG over the past 3 years! |

Did I mention we are PRE-REGISTERED!?! |
Tiny laundry, all ready for our little newborn! She'll be a sleeping fashionista! |
Pappy showing Brad how to wrap...after Brad wasn't pleased with his first few... And the guys working on installing the car seat. (A work in progress!) |
Looking forward to? This week we have a doctor's appointment (on Tuesday), our Small Group Christmas party that is also celebrating Miss Bryleigh (on Wednesday), and CHRISTMAS!!! My brother and his family will be in town on Thursday, then my parents will get here on Friday for our family's Christmas, and we'll be celebrating with my mom's family on Saturday.
...and did I mention that when Mimi comes on Friday...she's coming for her whole Christmas break (and Pappy will be here lots too)?! I'm so excited to get to spend so much time with her and to have her here to help make sure everything is ready for Miss B's arrival!!
I just had to share this sweet little picture of Miss Olivia meeting Santa for the first time, and Tate's 3rd visit. He's basically a professional - obviously! |
