7 Christmases with this sweet guy! I am BLESSED!! |
How far along? 37 weeks...We have a full term baby on our hands y'all!
Due Date? January 14, 2014
How big is baby? Bryleigh is about 19.25 inches long and approximately 6.3 pounds. She is about the size of a swiss chard (whatever that is).
Maternity clothes? Yep!
Stretch marks? Nothing new here!
Sleeping? I can't complain...I've heard plenty of mom's to be talking about how they have to move to a recliner or sleep sitting up, but I'm still able to sleep in my own bed. It definitely takes me a while to get to sleep, and I wake up from time to time throughout the night...but overall, I'm doing okay!
Miss anything? Feeling normal. The current normal is nausea all day, nose bleeds, and weird sensations throughout my body (the whole "restless syndrome" - this has gotten better with some help from some of you!!) I'm just ready for my body not to do things JUST because it's pregnant.
Movement? Bryleigh is definitely a mover! I'm so thankful for all of her movements, even those hiccups at 11:45 at night, right as I was starting to fall asleep. I've had such a peace throughout the pregnancy, knowing things were going okay because she was moving so much.
Food cravings? I've had a Christmas Tree snack or five over the past week. I haven't had as much cinnamon, but the craving is still there (and to be honest...I've had it at least once a day).
Food aversions? Thankfully no aversions this week!
Gender predictions? All pink and all girl here!
Symptoms? We regressed a little where the hyperemesis goes, but let's face it - we are less than a month from meeting this sweet little girl...I'm thankful for that!
Belly button – in or out? Same thing here, still not poking out!
Wedding rings – on or off? OFF!
Mood? A little overwhelmed, but nothing too emotional or crazy/hormonal
Labor signs? We have officially started "progressing..." Dilated to 1 cm, 70% effaced and a -2! This baby girl is getting ready for her arrival! We'll find out at our appointment tomorrow if we've made any more progress!
Best moment(s) this week? Christmas week...definitely my favorite time of year! It was full of lots of family time, and I'm not complaining about that one bit.
Monday (day before Christmas Eve) - We started off the week with an appointment at Dr. Harris' office, and then headed the rest of the way to Sulphur Springs for Christmas with the Armstrong's. I was SO thankful to be able to make one last trip to SS because that meant we would get to see Grandmother! Brad worked most of the day and met us in Sulphur once he got off, so we took the whole crew to visit her. This was her first time to meet Miss Olivia, and big brother Tate was SO proud to show her off! (And I do believe that picture in the top left is her first ever "Selfie"!)
Tuesday - We all woke up Christmas Eve morning at Mom and Dad's and had one last breakfast together before Alan and his family headed back to Conroe for their Christmas Eve services. I am so thankful for all of the time we had with them over the holidays! Mom, Dad, Brad, and I headed back to Arlington a little bit later so that we could go to the service at Fielder and then have Christmas with Brad's family. The Christmas Eve service at Fielder is one of my favorite things of the Season, and I always get emotional when Brother Gary and Mrs. Sandy read the Christmas story. (This year proved to be even a little more emotional considering I could feel Bryleigh moving around in my belly and tried to imagine what Mary must have felt like throughout her journey of carrying and giving birth to baby Jesus, and then watching as He grew up, started His ministry and then was eventually killed in such a horrific manner. I am so thankful for the sacrifice that He made for me.)

Armstrong Christmas was fun, as always - complete with a gift exchange and steals for all (although my little cousin Chandler does NOT approve of the stealing game)!!

Snuggles and puzzles before the babies headed back to Conroe |
Wednesday - We woke up on Christmas morning, and although our sweet Bryleigh isn't here yet - Santa had stopped by our house for her anyways!! Brad and I got her first Bible and first stuffed animal, along with some cute clothes that just couldn't be passed up (seen in the picture above). We laid those out on Christmas Eve, but we were excited when we woke up on Christmas morning and found even more goodies by the tree! Mimi and Pappy had set up a step ladder (that I've been needing desperately) with some giraffe bins I had been eyeing for Bryleigh's nursery, and each bin was full of goodies - clothes, books, and a very special gift in the last box...a pair of "Kissing Giraffes" that my mom had ordered from an organization that keeps ladies out of prostitution (as well as other things). She knows my heart so well, and yes - there were tears!!
Our Christmas celebrations with family continued at lunch on Wednesday with Grandma and Grandpa Hammons and Lou (where Bryleigh was officially inducted into the annual sock gifting), and then dinner at Mema and Cliff's with Brian and Luis (where there were more surprises and blessings than we imagined).
It was a WONDERFUL Christmas season with friends and family, and even though she wasn't here yet, everyone did a pretty good job at spoiling our little girl as we are all excited for her arrival!
We enjoyed a Hopkins County Stew dinner (and Sopapilla Cheesecake for dessert) with both of our families on Friday night, and then ventured out for the matinee showing of "Saving Mr. Banks" on Saturday morning with my parents. We finished out the week relaxing and getting things ready for Miss Bryleigh (yes, all of my Christmas decorations were down and put away by the end of the day on the 26th...we have a baby to get ready for!!). It's safe to say we are in full baby mode around here now that the holidays are behind us.

Looking forward to? The obvious - Starting 2014!! We'll officially be in Bryleigh's birth month AND year. There were certainly days I didn't think we'd make it to this point! I'm excited to close out 2013, one of the hardest, best years of my life - you can see our digital Christmas card and read about our top moments from 2013 HERE - and ring in the New Year, where there will be an endless number of new, exciting moments for us.
We don't have much on the calendar this week, but my mom and I will be spending LOTS of time getting ready for Miss Bryleigh while Brad spends LOTS of time working. I've also got a special date planned for my mom to thank her for all of her hard work in helping us get everything ready (and also for just being an awesome mom!) - I'll be sharing that on next week's blog!
We are also looking forward to BOWL GAMES!! We'll be cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners as they play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, and of course we'll be cheering on the Baylor Bears when they play University of Central Florida in the Fiesta Bowl! Boom Sooner and SIC EM BEARS!!!
