Month Two with You!

Sweet Bryleigh,

Time sure is flying by!

The highlight of the month for me was definitely when you smiled at me for the very first time.  You had made some "smiley faces" in the days preceding, but it was just you and me talking on the couch while your daddy was working and just as plain as could be...you looked right at me and smiled.  A feeling came over me like I had never experienced before, and I know that it won't be the last time I get that feeling.  I'm just guessing, but I'd bet it will come around each time you do new things...say "momma," give kisses, say "I love you."  I am so looking forward to all the days that are ahead of us!

The week 5 faves!

As the weeks go by, you get more and more "talkative" with me and your daddy, and you smile at us the whole time you talk.  Your smile is infectious, and you definitely smile with your whole face.  Your eyes just light up as you talk to us and laugh with us.  It's amazing how much joy you bring to our lives, you seriously make us laugh EVERY day.

A few of my faves from week 6!

And while we are on heart-warming (or heart-stopping) moments, you also rolled over for the first time...one day shy of being 8 weeks old.  You LOVE to lay on your tummy...this DOES make me a little sad though, because it means you don't have to be held quite as much.  We learned about your love for sleeping on your tummy while you spent some serious tummy time on the ottoman at Mimi and Pappy's.  You also LOVE your pass (but only one specific kind of pass...the others just won't cut it!).  So when you are laying on your tummy and you happen to lose your pass...you fight pretty hard to get it back.  Well, one time you fought so hard you just rolled right on over to your back!  To say this is going too fast would be an understatement.

I should have seen this rolling over thing coming though because you are always rolling from your back to your side when we are snuggling in bed.  You want to have your face nuzzled right up in my neck...and I am perfectly okay with that!  Snuggling with you is one of my very favorite things in life.

Some favorites from week 7!

I am having so much fun being your mommy.  I love bath time and brushing your hair after (NEVER thought I'd be able to sit and brush my new baby's hair, but you love it).  I love giving you your bottles and they way you hold on to my pinky and stare right up at me the whole time you are eating. I love when you are laying on my chest and you lift up your head and your eyes are so wide open...you seriously are the cutest thing ever!  I love so many things about you, I even love the "crazy" moments that remind me I really am a new mom to a teeny little baby that is totally dependent on me.

One of those "crazy" moments would happen to be the first "out of diaper" experience that took place 2 days shy of 6 weeks.  I'm not really sure what happened, but there was pee EVERYWHERE.  I had just changed your diaper about an hour before, so I don't really think you had filled your diaper.  And I double checked to make sure it was on correctly, but we ended up having to take off the clothes you had on AND wash all of the rock n play.  The second "accident" quickly followed the next day when you started peeing AFTER I took the diaper off and BEFORE I got the new one under you.  I frantically put the old diaper back under you, but it was folded, so you basically peed on the OUTSIDE of the diaper.  I'll tell you for future reference with your little ones...that part is NOT absorbent! ;)

Everything on the left was SOAKED, which is why she is
naked on the right...

Second Month Stats:

Wearing: Size 1 diapers (because we ran out of newborns) and 0-3 month clothes (as of 7 weeks)...I just packed up all the newborn pajamas, and I was definitely a little sad about that!
Eating: Still doing great with 4 ounces every 3 hours (7:30 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 10:30 pm)
Sleeping:  It took a little bit, but Bryleigh is now sleeping in her bassinet and out of the Rock N Play. She is sleeping about 9 hours each night and taking good naps throughout the day, but she is getting more awake and alert throughout the day with each week that passes.

First time out of "Newborn" PJ's...This little girl is growing up! ;)

2 Month doctor appointment stats: 12 pounds 6 ounces and 23 inches long, both in the 75th percentile (and her head is measuring 41.5 cm...still off the charts - we're positive it's her big brain!), and we can't forget the two shots and one oral vaccine she got!

She had no idea what was coming...but took those shots like a champ, and slept a whole lot once we got home!

Second Month Highlights:

Bryleigh's second month meant more visitors and getting to know more of our awesome family (and friends that are like family)!!

We started out month two (and wrapped up February) with some time with Brad's family and Bryleigh Girl's first cook out!

Bryleigh's second month took us back to Sulphur Springs for a quick weekend trip that brought some more firsts for our sweet girl, including her first trip to the ROC, her first wedding shower, and her first snow/ice storm.  Our "quick" weekend trip ended up being a little longer than expected!  We normally pack a weeks worth of clothes and stay 1 night, but this time we really did pack for 1 night (of spring weather at that...you know, shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops!) and ended up staying for 3 nights and 4 days thanks to crazy Texas weather and crazy interstate traffic!

Meeting Auntie Sister and her family! Can't wait for the twins to come join the fun!!

Bryleigh girl's first trip to the ROC and first Wedding Shower

Iced in at Mimi's and loving it!

Bryleigh's cousin Olivia had her baby dedication at First Conroe, so we loaded up our sweet little 7 week old baby girl and went on a nice little road trip where Bryleigh had her first hotel stay and went to church for the first time!  I always have so much fun spending time with Alan's family, and this weekend trip had the added bonus of Candice's mom, sister, and nephew which meant even MORE fun!!  Bryleigh also had her first (and certainly not last) stop at Buc-ee's!

One of my favorite days was when Bryleigh got to meet Beau!!  Beau's mommy, Brittain and Bryleigh's daddy, Brad grew up as best friends, and it is so special that these two babies will too! We LOVE the Lally/Bright family.

Bryleigh turned 8 weeks on Friday, March 14 and we celebrated with a trip to Sundance Square...okay, maybe those just happened to happen on the same day, but it was Bryleigh's first trip to one of her mommy and daddy's favorite places - it's where we had our first date! :)  Mimi and Pappy came in to town at the end of Spring Break for some shopping and time with Bryleigh Renee.  We ended their trip with brunch at Cracker Barrel before a big storm rolled in (which Bryleigh slept straight through).

Bryleigh's first time wearing a t-shirt! ;) And a trip to Sundance Square with momma, daddy, Mimi, and Pappy!

Bryleigh's Sock Monkey pi's - I've been patiently waiting for the day she could wear them!

Saturday brunch at Cracker Barrel and Bryleigh's first time rooting on the Bears!

Cities you visited in Month 2: Mansfield, TX - Conroe, TX - Fort Worth, TX
