Brad and I are so thankful that with all the recent flooding, our apartment has had very little damage. Aside from a water spot or two in a window sill, things stayed dry. We noticed shortly after moving in to our apartment that our gratitude for the amazing carpet probably came at a high price for the previous occupant of apartment 2312! There are noticeable water-damaged spots around the apartment and we've been a little worried about what might happen with our first big rain. I'm pretty sure if we survived "The Flood of 2010," we should be good to go.
At some point, the rain did let a little something (or should I say a little some THINGS) into our apartment and it caused for a little bit of hysteria around the Hammons' home this evening...and quite a bit of laughter!
Right before crawling into bed for the night, Emmitt HAS to go potty outside. He gets QUITE excited at the question, "Do you need to potty??" And as he turned in his circles tonight, he stirred up the first 8 legs...all attached to one body. Attached to those legs happened to be fuzz from behind the fridge, which made the measly little garden spider look quite horrific! As I flipped into panic mode...so did Brad. He was worried about his little guy and wanted Emmitt NO WHERE NEAR the spider. I got Emmitt out of the room as Brad slipped on his shoe, grabbed a paper towel and got the first 8 legs taken care of.
IMMEDIATELY as I turned around to go back into the living room, having already let Emmitt free, I saw four NEW legs. Still a little squirmy from the spider, I freaked again. And so did Brad - he's got this fear that Emmitt will eat ANYTHING. Moving the entry table AND holding Emmitt wasn't an easy task...and catching a lizard wasn't as easy as the spider either. But Brad saved the day there too!
We finally had the critters taken care of and Emmitt was more than ready to get outside. Jokingly I prayed there would be no snakes come out now...but as we came back to the apartment...there were four more legs. Obviously, Brad wanted Emmitt as far from the frog (and ground) as possible, but every dog has to have their fun...so I let him free...and he took care of the last four legs.
**No worries, he only chased it off...I'm not a fan of him eating live things either. And hopefully, there will be no more creepy-crawlers in the apartment for a little while!!
