On Monday, I had my 18 week doctors appointment, where we also had a scheduled sonogram to check the progress of Baby H and hopefully find out the gender. We had our card for the doctor all ready, along with an envelope for it to be sealed up tight in!
Dr. Harris ended up having an emergency over at the hospital, so we didn't get to see him, but we did spend about 20 minutes watching Baby H up on the big screen. We couldn't get much cooperation to get a profile picture or other good shots, but we did get to see the four chambers of the heart, the two sides of the brain, two kidneys, and lots of other things. Baby H looked GREAT with a very healthy heart beat.
Thankfully, Baby H DID cooperate enough for them to know the gender, so we had our card filled out and sealed up for Tuesday morning's photo shoot.
On Tuesday morning, we woke up bright and early to head out to Fort Worth with our sweet photographer, Morgan Elliott. We were able to make it to Trinity Park right as the sun was rising for some "before" shots in the first location.
We headed over to the duck pond for our second location, which would be the spot we'd find out if we were going to have a son or a daughter...and the suspense was KILLING us. But we did hold tight for a few more "before" pictures, and I think they might be some of my favorites.
Brad and I had actually talked earlier about not telling each other what we thought the baby was. Over the past few months we've both made comments, boy AND girl related, but never anything real specific. The only thing we had talked about, which was the night before the shoot, was what we thought the other person's guess was. I thought Brad's guess was BOY and Brad thought my guess was BOY. Well...the pictures below show it all, we were both wrong, and we both were feeling GIRL. It was so fun to turn around and see that we were both holding PINK spray paint cans.
Once we finished up with those, and Morgan captured a few more detail pictures, it was time for us to FINALLY find out. We hung a large canvas from twine/rope between two trees...thankfully Morgan is also into Kayaking and she knows how to tie a good knot! She had found the perfect tree where the canvas would hang right in the middle. Then it was time for Morgan to open THE envelope and hand us each a pink or a blue can of spray paint, then we'd fire away!
IT'S A GIRL! I think our reactions say it all. We were surprised and excited, and so glad to finally know that this sweet little one will be called BRYLEIGH RENEE. We followed up finding out with a few more pictures and then headed over to a cottage we had passed on the way in and got some final shots there.
We were so blessed by Morgan and so thankful to have such a special moment captured in such a beautiful way. We are so excited to meet our Bryleigh Renee!
