A Whole Lot More in Month FOUR!

My Sunshine,

Man, oh man have we had a fun month! Every day you are discovering new things and learning to do more and more, and every day your dad keeps saying, "Man, this just keeps getting more and more fun!"  You are definitely the most joyful part of our days, and we are having so much fun being your mommy and daddy.

If someone asked me what my favorite thing of my day is, I wouldn't have any idea what to say.  Not because I don't have a favorite part, but because EVERYTHING is my favorite part.  I LOVE going to get you out of bed each morning after you've just woken up.  Normally, you wake up a little, move around some, and then stare straight into the camera waiting for us to come get you.  Once we get in your room, you just look at us and your face lights up with your beautiful smile.  I love giving you your bottles because you look up at me and you are always playing with my arms or hands while you drink your bottles.  I love playtime! You are SO much fun and you are having lots of learn learning about yourself, your voice, and your toys...sometimes all at the same time.  I love the way that you talk while you are playing and kick around...most of the time moving pretty quickly around on (and off) your pallet.  I love nap time...snuggling you in the rocking chair as you start to dose off and listening to you coo as you start to relax.  I even love changing your diapers.  It's just more time to talk and laugh with you and see your beautiful smile.  And lately, you think that changing diaper time is ALSO play time.  It's funny, but it definitely makes things tough!  I love bath time and the fact that you just relax in the warm water like you know exactly what you are doing.  You always look so cute all warped up in your towel, followed by some messy curly hair cuteness...and bath time always means smell good time!!  I could snuggle you for hours after bath time!  And probably one of my very favorite and least favorite parts - bedtime.  Those 8 to 12 hours is a long time for this momma to go without her sweet girl, but I LOVE the little routine we have at bedtime - getting all cozy in your jammies, getting your last bottle of the day, and then closing out our day with a Bible Story (that's a new thing for this month!) and prayers.  It's in those moments that I just sit holding you and in awe of the beautiful gift that God has given to me and your daddy.

This month has brought lots of changes, although they seemed to come on subtly.  Your eyes are getting darker and your hair is getting lighter (looking more and more like momma's each day).  You also have lots more head control and even sit up from time to time, and I'm pretty sure you're just about to roll over (back to tummy...you've got tummy to back down good!).  You've also started picking things up on your own, and you are definitely more aware of your hands...including sucking your thumb (and fingers).  We can put a toy in front of you and you'll take it from us, and you can also pick up your toys around you all by yourself.  My favorite thing you have started doing is LAUGHING!  It's not too much yet, but I've definitely heard it come out a few times and it always makes me laugh even more.  Our smiles and laughs really seem to get you going because you respond to our smiles with a smile and our laughs with a laugh.

This month you have started to get in to a normal routine - waking up between 8 and 9:30, taking your bottle after you've woken up and we've talked/played a little, taking a little cat nap about an hour after you've eaten, taking your second bottle, and then a good long nap about an hour later.  The rest of the day seems to follow suit with more playing, eating, then napping.  You usually finish up your day around 9:30 or so with one final bottle and some snuggles with mommy while we read your bible story and say our prayers.  (You LOVE it when Daddy comes in to read the bible story, you end up laughing and smiling at him the whole time!)

Fourth Month Stats
Wearing: 0-3 months in clothes and pajamas, and moved in to size 2 diapers the day B Girl turned 3 months!
Eating: 6 ounces every 3 hours, 5 times a day...most days!
Sleeping: Napping about 1 to 2 hours after a bottle for about 1.5 to 2 hours...sometimes up to 4 hours!  And most nights Bryleigh is sleeping from 9:30 pm to 9:30 am (with some adjustments from time to time...putting the pass back in and putting her on her tummy in the early morning hours)

Bryleigh girl is still off the charts in her head measurements at 44 cm.  She currently weighs 16 pounds 4 ounces and is 25.5 inches long, both being in the 90th percentile for girls her age.  Dr. Wallace said she is doing GREAT and looks very healthy.  She was pleased with all of her developments and said she's definitely ahead in some of those areas...especially her head control, holding her chest up when she's on her tummy, and the placement of her arms/hands during that time.  Our sweet girl got stuck twice and had one oral vaccine at her check-up.  Oh...and we are introducing some foods over the days and weeks to come!! :) Our little girl is definitely growing up!

Fourth Month Highlights

We kicked off Bryleigh's fourth month with her 1st Easter!  DeDe and Poppa B came over for Sloppy Joes and had an easter basket for Bryleigh.  We were headed to Sulphur Springs for the weekend, so we gave Bryleigh her first Easter Basket on Friday before we left.

We had a great weekend in SS with Mimi and Pappy - meeting the Easter Bunny, watching Frozen, and eating Resurrection Rolls...and Bryleigh went to SSFBC for her very first time!

Bryleigh got to meet some of my very favorite people this month.  Brad and I spent a Saturday in Plano (getting a Mani/Pedi and eating some Red, Hot, and Blue!!), and we got to finish it up at my best friend Kim's house!  I was also able to meet up with her and my former Yardi co-workers for lunch later that week.  I was so glad Bryleigh got to meet all of them!

Some months, we have a pretty good idea of what's coming our way...and then some months deliver blows we have NO idea they are coming.  This month was the perfect example!! We've been SO looking forward to our Bryleigh Girl meeting Papa (Brad's mom's dad) and Uncle B (Brad's mom's brother), but what we WEREN'T expecting was Daddy having his second surgery in 6 weeks.  I didn't mention it last time because Brad didn't want a lot of people knowing, but it was the day after his 26th birthday...and it got infected, so a second surgery was needed.  Thankfully, Brad felt good enough to still spend some fun time with Papa and Uncle B over at our house for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, and I got to make my momma's Peach Cobbler for the very first time.  Papa even sang the Little Buckaroo song to Bryleigh that he always sang to Brad! :)

We also got to celebrate our sweet friends Kari and Rylan!! We are so excited for him to arrive and have lots of play dates! (And his mommy just graduated with her MASTERS! Congratulations Kari!)

There aren't really words to cover my first mother's day and the overwhelming feelings I had about my amazing day with my sweet girl!  Due to Brad's surgery and some complications that came up afterwards, we weren't able to leave and go anywhere, but it was honestly the most perfect day.  We spent the day relaxing as a family.  We made waffles and watched my brothers latest sermon and spent the day hanging out on the couch catching up on Scandal :)...and lots of playtime with Bryleigh girl of course! We were blessed to see both of our momma's over the weekend as well!

I will note that we had a "sad" first on Mother's Day - Bryleigh had her first fever!  She'd been pretty snotty and just a little less active than normal, so we knew she wasn't feeling to great, but Sunday night she finally had some fever and we knew she was officially sick.  She was a trooper though, never too fussy and still her normal self - eating, sleeping, and playing!

We had fun re-taking some pictures THIS year that we took last year on Mother's Day weekend after just finding out Baby Hammons was on the way! (You can read some other blogs about all of that in my mother's day letter to Miss B and my post from last year when we found out the great news!)

Brad and I are both blessed with incredible mother's who have loved us and given so much for us over the years. It was a fun weekend getting to spend time with both of them.  DeDe said all she needed was a little time with Bryleigh and her day was made! :) I'd have to agree with her!

And maybe one of the top moments of the month for Daddy was Brad and Bryleigh's first "Daddy/Daughter Date Night".  I was able to go to our girl's bible study with the other wives in our small group on Wednesday night and Daddy and Bryleigh had their first "alone" time together.  Daddy did GREAT!!  (And to be honest, the only thing we were really worried about was the fact that Brad hasn't been able to feed/hold Bryleigh since his surgery...Bryleigh LOVES her daddy, so time with the two of them never concerned me.  He's a great daddy!!)

Every month brings about some firsts, and this month included Bryleigh's first pair of shorts, her first laugh, and her very first baby doll.  I'm sure there were some others in there too!  Those are all pictured along with some of my other favorites of her from this month.

And can I just add that BRYLEIGH. LOVES. SLEEEEEP! :)

And in some very exciting news...Bryleigh and I won an Insta-Giveaway!!  I've been following Sugar Plum Lane for some time now on Instagram and had fallen in love with these shorts.  When I saw there post, I knew I had to enter...just give it a shot!  They had teamed up with Anastasia Noelle for their #SummerBabyGold giveaway, along with August Ink (LOVE their name ;) and their designs) and Pretty Little Elm (LOVE their BOWS!!).  I'm so excited for our sweet little B-Girl to be decked out in GOLD!!
